Learn about the data, the plans, and how Trace works.
Yes. Create an account and start searching right away, with no credit card required. The Free plan gives you 100 credits per month to explore stacks, ecosystems, jobs, and even save lists. You only pay to export data or unlock advanced features.
No. The Free plan requires no card, so you only add billing details when you’re ready to move to a paid plan. Nothing is charged automatically, and there are no overage fees unless you choose to upgrade.
No. The app handles everything — search, side-by-side company comparisons (Overlaps), the Trace Agent chat assistant, and Saved Lists — with no setup. The REST API and MCP are there if you want to automate later, but that’s optional.
Trace attempts to track multiple categories of data for every company, all from observable, public sources. The most common and useful categories are detailed below, and the data set is always expanding.
This corpus of data keeps expanding — new signal types get added as new industries and use cases call for them.
From observable, public sources — integration directories and marketplaces, co-marketing pages, and public job postings — all cross-checked with live technology detection. Trace never relies on shady data brokers or hacked-together vendor lists, so what you see is live and verified.
Trace runs on a real-time, demand-driven refresh — the system never stops watching, and it prioritizes rechecking the companies that matter most to our user base. This all happens automatically, and the underlying dataset keeps expanding and updating continuously.
Trace already covers millions of companies across tens of thousands of technologies, and it’s growing every day. The system refreshes continuously and expands in real time, so coverage keeps pace with new industries, use cases, and technologies as customers need them. If you have a specific request for a technology or data point, feel free to send us an email at support@tracedata.ai.
You can flag bad data right from the company’s profile in our user interface, or via the Trace API or MCP. That flagging system feeds Trace’s accuracy loop directly — flagged records get reviewed and validated, so the graph keeps getting sharper the more it’s used, not just on a fixed audit schedule.
Trace exposes its data over the Model Context Protocol, so an AI agent can query the graph and reason over the results, not just scrape rows. Connect Claude, ChatGPT, or any MCP client with modern OAuth — no scraping and no glue code.
Yes. Everything you can do in the app (lookups, Overlaps, and Saved Lists) is available over a standard REST API, so you can pull the same signals straight into your own workflows, warehouse, or enrichment pipeline.
Yes — full REST API and MCP reference docs, including authentication, endpoints, and example requests, live at docs.tracedata.ai.
Yes. Any Saved List can push updates to email or a webhook the moment a tracked signal changes — a tech change, a hiring signal, or funding. Webhooks are signed for security and can be paused, disabled, or re-keyed anytime from your notification settings.
Yes — export any Saved List to CSV from the app, metered the same as lookups (1 credit per net-new company, free for anything accessed in the last 30 days). API and MCP responses are always JSON.
Yes. A credit is consumed each time you pull data on a company, whether that’s in the app, a REST API call, or an MCP query. They all draw from the same monthly balance, and re-accessing a company you’ve already unlocked is free for 30 days.
A credit is consumed each time you pull data on a company, whether that’s a search result you open, a company profile, a REST API call, or an MCP query. Your plan includes a fixed number of credits each month, and the live counter in-app shows what you have left.
You can keep browsing data you’ve already pulled, but new lookups pause until your credits reset at the start of the next billing period, or you upgrade to a higher plan for more monthly credits. We’ll never charge you overage fees without you choosing to upgrade.
No — credits reset at the start of each billing period rather than accumulating. The live counter in-app makes it easy to see whether your plan actually matches your usage over time.
Annual plans cost less than their month-to-month equivalents, and are billed once per year up front. All credits for the full year are granted up-front and only refresh at the annual renewal. Use the Monthly / Annual toggle on the pricing page to compare exact rates.
Yes, but only if you’re already on a subscription plan. Existing subscribers can buy additional credits ad hoc at rates that vary based on your plan, all self-serve, right in the app.
Yes. Upgrade, downgrade, or cancel whenever you like, right from your account settings. Upgrades take effect immediately; downgrades and cancellations apply at the end of your current billing period, and there are no long-term contracts on self-serve plans.
Enterprise is tailored to your credit volume and requirements. Reach out and we’ll put together a plan that fits how your team uses Trace.
Trace does not need to connect to your data or production systems to work, which makes security reviews and approvals painless for most companies. Contact our team at sales@tracedata.ai with specific security questions or requirements and we will work to accommodate them for you.
No. Trace focuses on company intelligence — technographics, vendor relationships, and firmographic signals — not contact databases. We don’t collect or sell personal or contact data.
Full dataset export is an option that can be offered to an Enterprise plan. On self-serve plans you can export the companies and lists you’ve unlocked; if you need bulk or full-dataset access, that’s part of an Enterprise plan. Reach out to sales@tracedata.ai for options.
Yes, OEM options can be structured as part of an Enterprise contract. Reach out to sales@tracedata.ai for options.
